JD Gyms – part of the high street sportswear giant – has taken over a 30,000-sq.ft unit at Prospect Park, off Limewood Approach.

The £2million fitness centre will be the chain’s largest site, and boasts 250 individual pieces of training equipment.

The recent Budget Gym of the Year winner will also be home to saunas, a sprint track, the city’s largest free weights area and a boot camp zone. The studio hosts 400 classes a month, which are free for members to attend.

JD Gyms has taken on 15 new staff to run the centre after signing a 15-year lease on the previously vacant building.

Their arrival means the business park is close to being fully occupied.

JD Gyms managing director Alun Peacock, said:

“We are delighted to have opened our brand new, low-cost gym with a difference in Leeds. We worked closely with Prospect Estates throughout the process to open the gym on budget and on time. We are offering exceptional fitness facilities, an unrivalled class timetable, luxury surroundings and saunas in a convenient location on a highly affordable, non-contract basis. A gym of this calibre in this area has been a long time coming and feedback and take- up from local residents has been incredible.”
